About Me: An Electrical Engineer in FinTech (Cards & Payments)

Hi, I’m Mohan Arun Kumar Bayyavarapu—an Electrical Engineer by training, and a FinTech professional by choice and experience.

Over the last 10+ years, I’ve worked in the world of Cards & Payments, where the goal is simple to say but hard to execute: make every transaction fast, secure, and dependable. Payments are one of those things people only notice when something goes wrong—so the real work is in building systems that quietly work, at scale, every day.

How engineering shaped the way I work

My engineering background taught me to think in fundamentals: break complex problems into smaller, testable parts; design for edge cases, not just the happy path; measure, validate, and improve continuously. That mindset translates naturally into payments, where reliability and precision matter.

What I focus on in Cards & Payments

Cards and payments sit at the intersection of technology, risk, customer experience, and regulation. I’m especially interested in building resilient payment flows, reducing failures and improving success rates, designing systems that scale without surprises, and making complex topics easier to understand for teams and stakeholders.

Why I’m writing

This blog is where I’ll share practical lessons from working in payments, how I approach problem-solving and system thinking, insights from real-world experiences (without the fluff), and occasional reflections on career growth and learning.

If you’re someone who enjoys thoughtful, hands-on perspectives—welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
